England 5 - Dartmoor

the roads in Dartmoor are narrow

 very narrow

there's a lot of negotiation

we spent a long day walking on the moors

the long stone

clapper bridges

the teigne tolmen

the moors can be kind of featureless...

... with remote prehistoric sites everywhere

not a lot of mushrooms.   didn't eat this one.

tall walls divide the boundary lines, one stone wide, carefully balanced

when not on open moorland, we walked on ancient lanes... very hobbity

peeked into cottage gardens...

... and stopped at the occasional old country pub for restorative cider

a regular at the Northmore Arms

very cozy.  the fire never goes out.

Nikki was the Devonshire barmaid.   This pik clipped the top of the chimney...

here it it.
