Planatus x acerifolia

Napoleon lined the roads of France with plane trees to shade his marching troops.

Our Lady of the Assumption,
destroyed by Geoffroy of Vivans in 1598 and rebuilt 30 years later with the same stones

There was a display of natty surplices.

No dejection.

A story best left for another time
A s

The French will eat anything

Gizzard salad everywhere

It's fun to say foie gras d'oie but all the fat livers seem to come from ducks

um...foie gras de canard

and excellent tuna tartar on a bed of some kelpy stuff

The French are mad for handbags
I forgot to include this from Paris, where every third store on Faubourg St Honoré
 sold insanely expensive bags

An oeuf in foie gras sauce

They call them cepes but they're still porcinis to us

This was a tart tatin, topped with a 1/2 inch of foie gras, some parsley, and a sesame tuile

This had us stumped

on to Carcassonne
